The Focus Point School Educational Program "From Possibility To Reality" |
| Our Mission...
Focus Point School is a twelve-month secondary school program committed to giving emotionally and/or mentally disturbed adolescents a personalized academic program so that they can develop the skills necessary to move on to a less restrictive environment. The school serves students from the Maryland, DC and Virginia area. FPS provides a secure full day Special Education program to male and female students, ages 13 through 21, with a primary diagnosis of Emotional Disturbance. Our experience with students who have emotional and behavioral disorders and our non-graded program for students make our program unique in the state. Our dedication has given us a track record of achieving the following goals:

"I
personally have visited the Koba facilities and find you are indeed the
type of organization that has the ability to teach troubled children to
be productive and responsible citizens."
~ Donald Yeskey, President, General's Highway Council of Civic Associations |
"I have had the opportunity to work with numerous mental health professionals while at Koba and have found the staff, almost without exception, to be friendly, competent, professional, dedicated, and concerned over the welfare of the students. Many of my colleagues have gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide an environment where the children can feel safe and can freely express their emotions and concerns." ~ Maria Peko, M.D., Child Psychiatrist

"I would like to commend the staff [at Focus Point School] for their willingness to work collaboratively and closely with the Local School Systems. It has been very evident during my visits that the implementation of the Individualized Education Program for each student is the top priority. The students are fortunate to also have such caring school personnel working with them." ~ Annette V. Lagana, Coordinator of Special Education Services, Calvert County Public Schools
