Focus Point School Admissions Criteria:

Approval authorizes Koba Institute Inc (“Legal Authority”) to Focus Point School: (“educational program”), a nonpublic educational program providing full day Special Education and related services for male and female students with, emotional disturbance (FCC 06), mental retardation (FCC 01), who are in Secondary School (grades 8 through 12) and non-graded (ages 13-20) programs.

Academic Performance Levels and Cognitive Levels:

  • Students who demonstrate performance levels at, above, or below grade level in reading, mathematics, writing, or related curriculum areas (as measured by appropriate assessments conducted by qualified examiners) would be considered for admission.
  • Students whose social skills are at or below expected developmental levels (as measured by appropriate assessments conducted by qualified examiners) would be considered for admission.
  • Students with cognitive levels in the average, borderline, or mild to moderately limited range (as measured by a standardized cognitive assessment administered by a qualified examiner) would be considered appropriate for admission.

Behavior:

Characteristics of students considered for admission would include prior demonstration of:

  • Aggression (verbal and physical)
  • Noncompliance (verbal and physical)
  • Elopement or school refusal

Students who may not be appropriate for admissions would include students with an IQ lower than 55 as noted by standard cognitive assessment administered by qualified examiner.
